Job Description:

The Albert Einstein College of Medicine is seeking a Research Technician with a strong interest in Neuroscience research. The technician in this lab will be involved in research to understand how ovarian hormones work together with insulin-like growth factor-1 in the brain to control female reproductive function. The successful candidate will participate in experiments that employ in vivo microdialysis to measure the release of neurotransmitters (e.g., glutamate, GABA) in selected brain regions of awake, freely moving animals.

This is an excellent opportunity for a new grad to gain lab experience in several techniques employing rats as the primary animal model.

The Research Technician`s work will involve roughly 80% rodent surgical procedures and 20% immunohistochemistry. Rodent surgeries may include microdialysis, stereotaxic surgery, ovariectomies, and jugular vein catheterization. The individual in this position will also perform other related duties as assigned.

BA or BS in related science or equivalent skills and experience plus 0 to 2 years experience is required.

Experience working with rats in a surgical lab strongly preferred.

The ideal candidate should be comfortable performing surgical procedures on rats.
